Yes. Diagnostic ultrasounds at Baby Haven are medical exams performed to evaluate fetal development, anatomy, growth, placentation, and maternal structures as ordered or clinically indicated. These studies are distinct from keepsake or entertainment ultrasounds and follow clinical imaging standards.

All diagnostic exams are performed by the founder and lead sonographer of Baby Haven, an ARDMS-registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with extensive experience in OB/GYN, high-risk/MFM, and general radiology. Baby Haven does not use trainees, unlicensed employees, or rotating staff.

Baby Haven does not offer urgent or stat ultrasounds and focuses on scheduled, non-emergent imaging with thorough review and patient education.

We complement but do not replace OB, midwife, or MFM care and refer patients when higher-level monitoring or inpatient care is needed. For acute symptoms, contact your OB provider or go to a hospital.

Diagnostic studies are reviewed by qualified interpreting radiologists with maternal-fetal medicine–level experience. Reports are generated in alignment with clinical standards and are shared with referring providers via fax.

All diagnostic exams, and vaginal ultrasounds at Baby Haven KC require a provider order, provider signature/date, exam, and reason.

Baby Haven is a self-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly.

A detailed superbill/invoice can be provided upon request for potential reimbursement. Some HSA/FSA cards may be accepted depending on individual plan coverage. Full pricing transparency is available prior to scheduling.

Baby Haven does not provide results directly to patients.

All findings are sent to your provider for review and adequate medical consultation. If further evaluation is needed, your provider will guide next steps at that time, including referral to MFM or hospital care.

Reports are finalized by qualified radiologists and sent immediately to the ordering healthcare provider upon completion. Baby Haven does not provide results directly to patients, as interpretation requires a medical review. Your provider determines when and how to review the results with you.

Medical records and official reports are available only for diagnostic ultrasounds ordered by a licensed healthcare provider with a valid NPI #.

Baby Haven does not provide medical records for elective or non‑diagnostic visits, as those services are not considered medical imaging. For a diagnostic report or images, confirm that your appointment was a diagnostic visit with a provider referral. Then contact Baby Haven or submit your request via fax to (913) 543‑3014.

For diagnostic ultrasounds, we allow up to two guests (18+ only) to accompany mom for support.

Exam times at Baby Haven aren’t necessarily longer, we simply follow STANDARD, medically appropriate ultrasound exam durations.

We allow sufficient time to complete each study thoroughly, capture all necessary images, and minimize the need for repeat scans. This approach ensures high-quality, accurate imaging, supports sonographer focus, and provides ample time for patient education, celebration, and questions.
